February 10th Release Roundup: Two Shell, Yo La Tengo, The Golden Dregs & Lisa O'neill
#1: Always keeping things interesting, the Dj duo Two Shell have surprise released another set of cyber-pop hits, picking up where last years ‘Icons’ Left off. The ‘lil spirits EP’ is streaming everywhere now.
#2: “…indie rock’s most steadfast institution…” (Pitchfork, BNM, 8.5/10) Yo La Tengo have released their sixteenth studio album, This Stupid World’ which according to Exclaim! proves “…there’s still plenty of life left in the band’s fourth decade.”
#3: 4AD’s most recent signing, The Golden Dregs, have released their 3rd record ‘On Grace And Dignity’. Grounded by songwriter/producer Benjamin Woods’s deep baritone voice (Think The National’s Matt Berninger or Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merrit) the 10 track record is “…a rich tapestry of allusions…” (Loud And Quiet 8/10)
#4: Irish singer-songwriter Lisa O’Neill has released her truly breathtaking 5th album, ‘All Of This Is Chance.’ Throughout all eight songs it feels like O’Neill is writing in a constant state of wonderment, not only is it a portrait of the artist in love with nature, but one perplexed by the ever-expanding gulf between it and modern society.
