TWIGS - LP1 - CD / LP / DLX LP IN STORES AUG. 12

12 August 2014

FKA twigs, the London-based producer, singer, songwriter and video director, will release her debut
full length LP1 on 12th August 2014 via the Young Turks label.
LP1 is FKA twigs defining artistic statement to date, building on the success of her two previous EPs
(‘EP1’ and ‘EP2’) and accompanying videos which have elevated FKA twigs from a word-of-mouth
secret to global obsession over the past two years.
The album features none of these previously released EP tracks; instead each song on LP1 is brand
new, born out of FKA twigs’ artistic philosophy of spontaneous creation and collaboration in the studio.
LP1 also features artwork from Jesse Kanda, who has manipulated his own photographs of twigs to
stunning effect. Kanda previously directed the acclaimed videos for ‘Water Me’ and ‘How’s That’.
The album is available in 3 configurations; CD, standard vinyl and a limited edition deluxe UK import
LP with gatefold 180g pressing and printed inner bag with 4 art prints. Also included with the deluxe
version is a 1-sided etched 7” on coloured vinyl featuring the brand new song, One Time.
Twigs is currently on the covers of both FADER and Dazed magazines and will grace the covers of W and Under The Radar in August.
Twigs made her Canadian debut April 15th in Toronto before a sold out crowd at Wrongbar. She makes her return August 8th at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall followed August 9th in Montréal at Cabaret du Mile End. A further round of dates will come in November.
June 23rd saw the release of the first video from LP1, ‘Two Weeks’. MTV says ““Two Weeks” captures everything that her music is about — it’s minimal, but before you know it, it’s overwhelming with its layered vocals, ticking beat and throbbing synths. It’s enough to make you melt.”

  • Visit www.fkatwi.gs for more information.

“She body-rolled her way right into “Water Me,” a track that twigs performed so flawlessly, it left the
whole room speechless; completely lost in her soft, hypnotizing voice, swaying from side to side.” -
Exclaim on Wrongbar performance

“There’s a mountain of buzz behind young UK vocalist FKA Twigs, which resulted in Wrongbar being
packed to capacity for her Toronto debut. Her dreamy reworkings of R&B and hip-hop motifs have
garnered her a lot of media attention, and her songwriting lives up to the hype.” – NOW Magazine 4 / 5
“The song is a sighing, soaring bit of electronic pop, and its lush slow-motion video (directed by Nabil)
matches the song’s regal, ethereal beauty.” – Stereogum on ‘Two Weeks’

“Two Weeks is a beguilingly straight-laced cut of silken R&B; a commanding blast of raw sexual power.
Like the anonymous goddess she portrays in her Nabil-directed video, FKA twigs is larger than life
here, knocking on the doors of great contemporary pop singers—Ciara, Mariah, and even Aaliyah, to
name a few—with her breathy falsetto and magnetic presence.” – Pitchfork

FKA twigs is a London-based producer, singer, songwriter, video director, classically trained ballerina,
and choreographer. Although Twigs (as her friends call her) has only officially released 2 EPs to date -
one self-released and one for Young Turks, she has racked up more than 6 million Youtube views for
her assorted videos – 2.5 million on the video for “Water Me” alone.
Currently gracing the covers of both Fader and Dazed magazines, FKA twigs is one of the most
exciting new artists around. She releases her debut album LP1 on August 12th via Young Turks – a
record that showcases FKA twigs’ acclaimed songwriting and production talents and is set to be one of
the year’s most hotly-anticipated debuts. News of the album release follows a series of live
performances around the globe (including London, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Berlin and Paris),
all of which sold out within hours of being announced solely via FKA twigs’ personal Instagram.
