Treanne Releases Her Debut

Today Kansas City-based singer-songwriter Treanne releases her debut EP 20/20 on Young. The EP arrives on the heels of Treanne’s first U.S. tour with label mate Sampha and a 3-week residency at Young Space in London.

Having previously teased singles “Please” and “Sharing My Body,” 20/20 arrives with a visualizer for “It’s Ur Birthday,” another stunning showcase of Treanne’s prowess as songwriter and vocalist, solidifying that she is an artist-to-watch in 2024.

Treanne captivated fans and critics opening for Sampha across his U.S. tour.  The Minneapolis’ The Current noted “the raw honestly of (Treanne’s) work (which) had all of us enraptured” and Nashville Scene exclaimed, “I was fully unprepared for Treanne,” continuing, “her voice was so fragile and her songs so personal…there she was, laying out the rawest nevers of her soul for a thousand captivated strangers, who sat silently watching.”

On 20/20, Treanne explores the transition from adolescence into adulthood and the realization of all the ways that life can hurt you. On stand-out tracks like “Sharing My Body” and “It’s Ur Birthday” she explores intimacy, love, longing, and boundaries in relationships, and on “Reasons” she worked with English songwriter and artist Jack Peñate in London. Born in London, raised in Jamaica, and now based in Kansas City, as a child Treanne dreamed that she would one day go to America and become a star. Just over a decade later, she’s well on her way to making that dream come true.
